Yet more questions

So my car came with the Comfort pack, which for that year, early 2024 and spec it included the following.

  • Electric Tailgate with hands-free function
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • 360 Vision
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Auto-dimming electrochrome door mirrors
  • DS LEF Spotlight

However, the driving modes include Sport, Hybrid, Electric & Comfort .

So when I select Sport theres an instant change in how the car feels, drives and performs.
Selecting Electric is obviously quieter, feels smoother and performance is not as rapid as Sport.
So far so good.
Now then, when I select Hybrid or Comfort I feel no change in the driving conditions what so ever , both modes feel exactly the same !
Therefore I contacted DS Customer care, who contacted DS Technical, who contacted DS product support, who contact DS customer care, who then got back to me.
By this time I couldn’t really give a toss
But anyway , heres what I was finally told.

Because the car had the 20" SYDNEY alloys added as an optional extra this also included DS Active Scan Suspension which then adds the extra Comfort driving mode !
This I did not know when opting for the 20 inch alloys !

So apparently in Comfort mode the car drives as per Hybrid mode but in Comfort mode the added Active Scan Suspension is activated by the camera on wind screen scanning the road for lumps & bumps ect and then adjusts the suspension accordingly .
Yet when using Comfort mode theres nothing in the settings or displays to say Active Scan Suspension has been activated and I cant feel the slightest bit of difference between Comfort and Hybrid.

My conclusion is that the Active Scan Suspension is not something that is switched on or off when in Hybrid or Comfort mode, it just changes the driving experience when selecting Sport mode , because thats the only mode where you can feel the difference.
Theres nothing in the cars settings to show its activated or any symbol on the screen !
I cant see the point in having a Comfort mode if Active Scan is active in Hybrid mode.

Does anyone else have the Comfort Mode, if so am I missing something ?

It’s a well repeated information that the Active Scan Suspension is only active in Comfort mode. The manual isn’t very clear of the meaning though.
My problem is that I have no idea if my car has the A.S.S.
My dealer checked but couldn’t find the answer. They sent me to the sales department, “they have better databases” they said. But they had no idea either.
How can there be no way of telling what features a car has?
Like you, I can’t really tell any diff between hybrid and comfort.
But I always use Comfort, in the hope that I have A.S.S.

I think when the manual says:
HYBRID mode is combined with “NORMAL” mode of A.S.S, it’s basically saying the car is running with "Normal " (non active) A.S.S.

When it says :
Comfort “combines Hybrid mode and Comfort mode of A.S.S”, its saying A.S.S is now active in Comfort mode but also utilises the Hybrid side of the car.

So in reality, if you drive in Hybrid mode your already in A.S.S but it’s in NORMAL (non active) presence, switching to Comfort mode turns A.S.S on but at the same time keeps the car running with the Hybrid features.
If that makes sense.

I still cant feel any difference though.

The only bonus is that when I opted for the 20 inch alloys I didnt know they came with Comfort mode with gives you A.S.S.

Like you, I cannot tell the difference in suspension between comfort and hybrid.

My car is equipped with A.S.S.
Ive stated this before in another thread on here (from memory).
I can really tell the difference between the modes, also passengers feels the difference.

Sport - Damping reminds of a GTI hatchback, really firm and actually uncomfortable when going over bad roads. Great fun when running twisties even though its a heavy car.

Electric/Hybrid - These two feels the same, i would put this mode in par with my former V60CC in terms of damping. Much better comfort than in sport mode, and better control of sideways motion compared to comfort mode.

Comfort - Really soft Damping, especially when on a bumpy road with “soft” bumps. Sharp bumps isn’t handled as elegantly but really quite ok. Reminds a little of the Skoda Superbs comfort mode with DCC but with much better control of the wheels.
Whats not good with comfort mode, something that I dont think theres any way to overcome, is the way it handles in strong sidewinds on the highway. In comfort mode it feels like the car is floating sideways from the force of the wind. This behaviour is much less present in Normal mode and none existing in sport.

I believe that if you guys cant feel the difference between Hybrid and comfort, your cars cant be properly setup.
Even when going beneath 30km/h (radar inactivated) theres a big difference between the modes in how the car handles speedbumps.

  • Wonder where the cylinders valving is located? If its an external module or some cables going to the damper we should be able to determine if ours look the same…

I can definitely feel the difference in Sport mode.

Didnt know A.S.S was inactive below 30km/h , couldn’t see anything in the manual about this ?
DS Technical told, if the car has A.S.S its not something that is always active but is still scanning the the road via the screen camera but not doing anything until the driver selects the appropriate mode.
So in Hybrid /Electric its “NORMAL” mode (in active).
In Sport it will become active and the ride far firmer
In Comfort more softer.

Can`t say i feel much difference, but my son says that clearly
is a difference

I am also wondering how the dampers are affected by the A.S.S. Are there electronic devices in the dampers.

Helped by a camera located at the top of the windscreen, four attitude sensors and three accelerometers, DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION acts instantly on each of the wheels independently, to make the suspension firmer or softer depending on road conditions.
