DS4 2022 ota update

I’ve owned the car for about 4 or 5 weeks, I bought it new, its already had two OTA updates and 2 dealership updates.
Apparently some updates can only be done by the dealerships.

The OTA update notification usually pops up when you pull up and switch the engine off.

I think you can manually force the car to check if there are updates available.

Dealership informed me that each update would be specific to the model and even possibly to any optional extras that might have been added, if the optional extra is software supported.

After one month, the replacement item (new bsfr build and code from the factory for my specific car) don’t have a shipping date…
In the meantime, they replaced the front shock absorber mounts under warranty (Iittle crackling noise turning the steering at very low speed)

I’ve been having issues with the Keyless entry and Welcome lights.
When I was the dealership talking to the Master Technician he explained that almost everything runs through the BSFR, it’s a very complex piece of kit and very very expensive to replace !

It’s locate under the roof antenna… I assume is as expansive as small

Issues with keyless entry most of the time are related to depleted battery in keyfob
I have replaced mine after 2 years since handles werent reacting fast enough on my approach.

Dealership has tried replacing the key batteries , but problem persisted, they then ordered two brand new keys, problem still persisted, they then did a full factory reset on the car, you guessed it, problem still persisted.

I’ve now had to send them some videos of the issue so that DS UK can get involved.

Basically the problem is with the proximity feature when I approach the car, it sometimes picks up the key and unlocks the doors and also turns on the Welcome Lights, but then the next day it might unlock the doors but no lights, or might not do anything at all and I have to use the remote fob to get in the car.

I’ve tried all the suggestions, like putting the key further away from the car, apparently the key has to be more than 7mtrs away from the car when it’s parked up, and then theres the 15 minute journey rule within a 7 day period.
Apparently if you dont do at least a 15 minute journey every 7 days the car puts the auto welcome lights and keyless entry into hibernation mode.
But I’ve done that as well, problem still persists.

So its now booked in for next week as DS UK have a few more suggestions to fix the issue.

Sorry to hear about the issues,
My car is a little bit random in when it “welcomes” me.
But almost always closer than 5 meters.
I don’t know if it gets confused as I walk by it several times a day when its parked.
I’ve noticed that the car turns on lights and everything during the first passes but after second pass or something it kind of gives up.
When I go to the car next morning it’s all grumpy and only turns on lights and unlocks when I’m standing directly besides the drivers door.

Oh boy!

Now I gotta call the dealership cos I haven’t gotten any update since I got it.

I connected my Wi-Fi to the car multiple times but haven’t gotten anything.

My System Version: NHW.1.20.93.7

My car is running NHW.1.26.80.7
Maps 17.1.33+PI125.0

yep,
Exactly like mine, I thought there might a fault, so its going back in next week for another look, but after reading about yours I feel this a “normal” feature of the car.

I do find it very frustrating though, because this “Welcome” feature acts so random.

The walking past the car with the key but not actually starting or driving the car can definitely “confuse” it.
However, the feature can still be very temperamental even if you do everything by the book, such as keeping the key more than 7mtrs away from the car when its parked up, or making sure the car is driven for at least a 15 minute journey every 7 days.

The welcome lighting and keyless entry is very very sensitive to changes on the DS.

Check that your privacy settings are set correctly.
You wont receive OTA updates if set wrong.

I know mine is fully up to date because it’s one of the things the dealership has been checking all week, they’ve done two “workshop” updates, plus its also done two OTA updates in the last two weeks.
Apparently there are some updates that cannot be done OTA, the car has to go in for these “Workshop” updates.

So we are not going to have any updates after NHW.1.20.93.7 if we don’t visit the dealership and they update with newer version?

This is the only one OTA I had and after that silence from my IRIS system about updates

This is how it was explained to me .

OTA updates will continue but there are some that need to be carried out by a dealership workshop, probably during normal servicing or if your car goes in for a separate issue before its due for a service they will check it’s updates at the same time…

I was told that you will receive 5 notifications when theres an OTA update , if you dont carry out the OTA update by the 5th notification, you will not receive another and the car will need a visit to the workshop to get the update carried out.

As mentioned, I’ve had the car about a month and its already had two OTA updates, plus two dealership updates.
You can also check manually if your car is up to date in the settings, but I think this might only checks the OTA updates ?

Yes, I checked in the settings and this was the latest OTA update for me. Of course the dealership will charge for tweak in the garage, update is easy money for them

So your privacy settings are correct ?

Can you also see 4G in the top right hand corner of the media screen ?

Absolutely, it is always set on privacy and location sharing, but this will not affect updates anyway as it was written in manual. Then 4G always visible and WiFi connected to my phone’s hotspot, this is how I update my maps regularly and the only one OTA update so far was done this way. It is really strange that there is no manual option for pushing the updates, just a optional box if you want to be done automatically, which is checked from the start.

I’m currently having issues with keyless entry & welcome lights, so the car has been back and fore the dealership a couple of times, it’s going back again tomorrow.
One of the very first things they did was reset everything back to factory settings and carried out the latest updates, but they didnt put the privacy settings back to sharing, so I queried this with DS UK and the Master Tech at the dealership because I thought they did it intentionally, however both said they it was an oversight and should be set to sharing to receive OTA updates.
Having it now set to sharing made no difference to my current issue but the car does do OTA updates by itself , and often it seems !

Great and valuable informations, I will definitely visit DS Store by the end of the month regarding this.

Do you think if I restore/reset all my settings to default it will change something and maybe push future OTA updates?

I would firstly make sure your privacy setting is set to share, theres also another setting to receive updates via wifi.
On my car both are set to receive via wifi and privacy is set to share.

I regards to a factory reset, it might just reset things like the radio, profile settings, your phone ect, however, there is a very good chance that it might also reset any OTA updates it has already received, the tricky thing though is that a factory reset might also reset the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) updates the car would of had when it arrived brand new at the dealership ?
My thoughts are it wont reset PDI updates because this could lead to lots of owners accidentally resetting their cars all the way back to production line status.
