Ds7 e tense auto dipped beam intermittent

So I e just noticed the automatic dipped beam feature on my ds7 deactivates it’s self then comes back on randomly during my commute, all the settings are set to auto but the icon on the dashboard is on and off? Any particular reason for this? Would an update sort this out?

So on my DS4 E tense.
All lighting is set to auto, the dipped and main beam auto changes DEPENDING on driving conditions.
The Auto icon on the dash is sometimes illuminated in green, and sometimes in grey, and also on many occasions not illuminated at all, it is like this even with the lights set to auto on the stalk and in the vehicle settings.

Theres a number of factors that allow the auto dipped/main beam to activate, and the same with the dash icon, it can be illuminated (green or grey)or not at all, its all down to the outside driving conditions.
Like you I thought there might be an issue, but my sons Vauxhall is exactly the same.

I wouldn’t worry.

The operation of the auto high beams system depends on the analysis of the image from the windshield camera. If the streetlights are on, the system will definitely turn off. The same will happen if there are vehicles in front of you. There are probably a few more conditions for the system to operate, but who could keep up with the designers of this system?

Ok…I’m just sure this wasn’t the case since I’ve owned it (two months) unless Ive only just noticed it. does seem to be quiet erratic one minute it’s one the next off.

Remember to keep your windshield (around the camera) clean and they will work fine.

I’m sure there is a problem as the icon is coming on and going off randomly during the same commute home in consistent weather conditions, since owning the car I’ve never once had to manually turn the headlights on, it’s going in for new suspension arms (under warranty) so I’ll get them to look at this while they are at it.

For this system to malfunction in the DS7, all it takes is for residue to form on the inside of the windshield. Newer cars, like the DS4, don’t have this problem because the camera is gel-bonded and doesn’t accumulate residue. Unfortunately, the DS7 does.

Is that the reason why sometimes my ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control, is there a better abbreviation?) refuses to work?
One time I had to drive most part of 500km without it, just because there was a heavier snow fall during a smaller part in the beginning of the journey. It’s like it remembered that and thought “-It might happen again…”.
Tried cleaning both windshield and front grill camera without success.

No, it has nothing to do with ACC. The camera in the grille is only for Vision360, and the camera in the windshield is also responsible for traffic light reading, LineAssist, and probably emergency braking when a collision risk is detected.

The ACC radar is a separate module in the bumper (located lower in the bumper grille under the license plate). If it’s dirty, the ACC system malfunctions.

I’ve just noticed condensation in in front of the camera so that looks like the problem…will get a hairdryer on it later

I’ve written about this before. But you’d actually have to disassemble the camera for this task. You could also clean the camera lens while you’re at it, as it’s probably dirty too.

Yeah I thought I’d might have to…could be a big job

It takes a bit of courage, but there are probably some videos on YouTube or here is short movie

Looks straight forward ?
Do they have this for the DS4 ?

If you mean dashcam so yes. Here it is, same as for Astra L and P308 t10 or C5X. It’s probably best to choose 4K single.

Does the cars standard camera stay in place alongside the new dash cam, or does the new dash cam take over from the standard ?

Why do you prefer just the single front camera ?

I’m very close to buying a dash cam but put off by the wiring, although the onse you’ve shown seem to be a simple plug and play ?

Only one, because there are no long cables and the associated difficulties. But wait until the warranty expires. DS might complain about such a change if they discover it.

Second. You don’t touch the factory camera with this type of replacement, as it’s just a mirror housing replacement. You simply connect the new camera’s wiring harness to the mirror’s wiring.

So the existing screen camera stays in place and the new dash cam sits alongside it, using the wiring within the mirror housing.

The camera you have stays (green). There’s a second new one (red) that records non-stop on a microSD card.

I’ve not noticed any green light on mine .
I’ll take a closer look .
