DS7 Etense Electric Range Issues

Hi sorry for not responding earlier. I have had a major issue with the car which was not purchased from a main dealer, long story short; it was found out that I was sold a dangerous to drive car. The company (motorpoint) eventually took the car back; and reluctantly gave me a full refund. Needless to say all the data from my driving experience was incorrect; and I apologise for posting incorrect information. I am hoping to purchase a DS soon.

Oh my, that’s sad news. But good, I guess, that you managed to get rid of a dangerous car.
Good luck in the hunt for a new one!

Thanks Jay

Very lucky; thanks to DS Leicester. They found that the roof had been damaged with visible hammer marks under the roof lining; with waterlogged air bags; cracking and rear door joints just with body filler. Only had/drove it for six weeks; after trading in my DS7 Crossback. Oh well; saving for another DS7.
Oh, have you seen the new DS number8 looks great but it’s too long for me.

Good news!! I am now able to come back to DS. Yesterday I ordered my new DS7 1.6 E-TENSE 14.2kWh Etoile. Have a fantastic offer on at the moment; due to the fact that DS have stopped production of the car. A new all electric DS7 should be out later in the year. So should be delivered early February.

Great news!

DS stopped production of the DS7 E Tense ?
Didnt know that !

With a delivery that quick I assume your order will be a stock order as opposed to a new factory build.
I was lucky, I wanted some optional extras and the sales guy found two cars (different colours) in stock with the options I wanted.

Yes in group stock; somewhere in the UK; did not ask where about. Looks like DS is going all electric; with the new DS (number 8) as it is goo going to be known. Looks good to me; but just right for the fleet market which they are aiming for.

Yeah, I can remember when I bout my DS last September the sales guy saying they were going all electric.

The same dealership though will be ditching DS unless sales improve over the next 6 months, they’ve only had the DS franchise there 12 months.
They’ve recently taken on Alpha Romeo to share the dealership but apparently will grow the Alpha side and ditch DS if sales dont improve.

Personally I dont think DS are ready to mix it with the big guns such as Mercedes ,BMW ect, when the build quality of DS is just falling short.
Yes, they are lovely looking and are styled really nicely but for me DS are lacking quality.
But that’s just my own opinion, and I base it on my own experiences with the brand.

The Leicester DS ; which also has Citroën and Peugeot sales rooms; and shortly will have Alfa Romeo showroom. And also have taken a share in Leapmotor brand, and has one on show. It’s electric with an average mileage; about 230-240?

I’ve just bought one too 2021 plate, mine says about 19 miles when fully charged and actually does about 12, its pretty rubbish, the battery may have lost some charge is my theory and the car is very heavy that doesn’t help its economy, still nice I can charge every day but now I do wish Id have gotten a newer PHEV like the Cupra Formentor as that last much longer, i only did this research after I purchased it and found the range to be terrible

The fully charged range on mine was about 33 miles a few months ago but has now dropped to around 26 miles as it gets colder.

I was really hoping for a bit more when I bought it new last year.
When I first got it I was only seeing 19 miles after a charge, my son was seeing between 32 -36 on his Vauxhall Astra PHEV, which I’m lead to believe is the same battery ect as the DS, (both cars made by Stellantis).

He suggested I try running the car on full electric for a week or two, run it down , re-charge , run it down, re-charge, ect over a fortnight.
I did this over a fortnight, traveling the same route back and fore work.
After a couple of charges I started to see the predicated mileage increase , it went from 19 miles up to 33 miles, which I was happy with, bearing in mind I bought the car in September and we were starting to get into the colder months.
It stayed at 33 miles for many months, but has now dropped to around 26 miles, so its a repeat of last year where we are now at the colder months of the year again.
My sons Astra has actually dropped from an average of 35 miles down to a disappointing 18 miles, however he’s not concerned because he hasnt been using the car that much over the last few months and he reckons all he needs to do is repeat the above for the car to “learn” your driving style and the predicated mileage will increase accordingly, especially gong forward when the winter months start to end .
Try it and see if yours improve, I’m convinced it worked for me.

19 miles is about right in the UK at this time of the year, next summer it will probably be near 31 miles. :crossed_fingers:

If external conditions allow, try turning off the cabin air vents as a test. The range will increase the next day after this procedure. Generally, electric driving requires compromises to increase range.

only 1.8 miles/kwh. this is a 2020 4x4 model. it’s pretty bad. if using uk peak electricity rates. the pence per mile is actually higher than a petrol? only worthwhile to charge car it using off-peak electricity

That must be very in heavy traffic or something. Or a very short distance.

no - not much traffic where i live. this is normal for most i see here. 10khwn X 1.8 = around 18 miles in winter. i think normal ev will get 3.3 miles/kwh in winter? i think i will use this car for medium and long distance and get a mini ev for around town lol. must be one of the least efficient PHEV int the market. which is a shame because the weight of around 1.8 tonnes is not bad at all.

This is a drawback of the 4x4 because it has two electric motors. The 2x4 225hp version has slightly better power consumption. In the C5 Aircross 225, I now get 25-27 miles with same traction battery (13,2 kWh - netto 12,0). In DS4 225 (weight 1.7t) with TB 12.4kWh now I have 28-30 miles

It’s my understanding that you really can’t compare full EV’s with hybrids when it comes to efficiency.
Anyhow, I took a reading in my DS7 this morning after driving to work.
I have 10km to work (6,2 miles, and around 70% highway), it was 9 C outside and I got result according to the picture.
I understand you use those weird ( :innocent: ) calculations so I’ll convert your figures so we can compare.
Your figures would be:
34,5 kWh/100 km
2,35 l/100 km

I can also add that I had worse figures up to a month ago, when I did a wheel alignment and the numbers improved significantly. I can recommend trying that if it’s been a while.

But here’s the topic of electric mode. Driving in hybrid mode isn’t discussed. For electric mode, a range of 12 miles means energy consumption of approximately 70 kWh/100 km (60 miles) if TB has aprox. 12kWh

I know, but since Joe had a little bit petrol in the mix I thought it’d be appropriate to compare with a similar drive.
Both my numbers was lower as well. It’d be different if my petrol number had been higher.
But anyway, it’s always difficult to compare regardless because there’s so many factors involved.
