I’m thinking of joining the ds7/crossback owners but didn’t know if anyone had any advice needs to be a hybrid quite fancy 4x4 is it worth the risk any help would be appreciated before I start looking round dealerships strong text
Hey Robbie and welcome to the forum!
The DS7 is always an interesting and different choice to the BMW’s and Mercs and Audis thats for sure. I will admit I just love the French flare too much so do love my DS7 Opera Etense 4x4 but it has had it’s niggles.
I went from a 2019 Volvo V60 D4 Momentum Plus with a ton of extras to my DS7 and in terms of quality, spec and power I cannot fault it. I would say its on par (maybe a touch better to the volvo). The power and smoothness of the gearbox is faultess and it transitions from ICE to Electric and back seemlessly when driving.
I tend to get anywehere between 40-47mpg when using a hybrid mode over a long journey and typically stick to electric when around town/doing small journeys.
That said I would say the downsides/issues I have had but can live with are:
- infotainment system isn’t the most intuative vs the Volvo
- the ride can feel jumpy/tramlining over bumps especialy with the bigger alloys
- I’ve had some issues (all resolved under warranty) - steering rack, PCV valve and rocker cover and something else.
- Aerial antenna failed meaning I had no radio, sat nav etc - took DS Tech team 3 weeks to resolve.
What to look for - check for any o/s recalls as on earlier Crossback models the rear axle was a recall. I would say if you want the top spec then look at the Opera, Espirit de Voyage or La Premiere Models. Which often come with the 1.6 THP Hybrid config either in 225, 300 or 360 BHP
If you don’t want all the bells and whistles then a performance line plus is a good mid point and I think typically comes with the 1.6 225bhp hybrid (but happy to be corrected) and some good spec too.
When buying I also test drove a 1.5hdi Rivoli spec and that had some decent shift and spec, but ultimately I wanted the Opera due to the colour combo (Laquered grey over ivory interior)
I think as long as you know with DS its French so has it’s quirks that you need to live with, then you can’t go wrong. And with any car always recommend considering warranty if outside dealer warranty.
Only final piece of advice is (from experience) if you come across a 2022 72 plate DS Opera Etense reg KS72 RCO - RUN AWAY from it as fast as you can and don’t look back. It unfortunately hides a lot of problems which myself and three other forum members fell victim too.
Hope that helps somewhat
Mike
Totally agree with Mike. Please avoid that car, it is a total wreck.
